Training, Clinics & Evaluations

Happy horses make happy riders and happy riders make happy horses

Marion’s Experience

USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist Marion Dresel OConnor is offering a vast spectrum of customized instruction and training tailored to individual riders and horses needs.

Marion moved to the US in 1992 and already had a well rounded equestrian amateur education in Dressage, Show Jumping and Reining.

She furthered her training with the help of numerous instructors here in the US , never missing a clinic opportunity. She really preferred the American approach to Dressage which she considers kinder to the horse. Early on she concentrated  on bringing along young horses she had bred herself or imported. Huge emphasis was placed on correct training, Marion calls herself the “Long and Low Queen”. Most of these horses were sold as 4 or 5 year olds and went on to have great careers.

One controversial 3 year old mare, purchased for the CCSH breeding program in 2004, turned out to be Marions horse of a lifetime. Doing all the training herself and through many trials and error Marion and Karat have advanced all the way to Grand Prix. It was a long journey and its still not over, but the many stumble blocks are still fresh in Marion`s mind and that`s why she she can relate so well to other riders struggles. Teaching others has become a passion because as Marion puts it:  “If I want to help the horse I have to teach the rider first.”

Here are some of the options available to ANY LEVEL rider:

  • Haul in for private lessons on your horse, this can be on a regular schedule or just a one time tune up or show prep.
  • Come for a lesson on one of the CCSH horses, not a bad idea in the winter when hauling your own trailer might be too dangerous.
  • Ever wanted to learn on  a schoolmaster? That is possible as well. On a private treaty basis you may also inquire about showing  the schoolmaster at a recognized show to help earn scores for your medals.
  • Coaching at shows can be arranged.
  • Marion is available for out of town coaching, be it a half day, one day or weekend clinics
  • Thinking about buying a horse and need an expert to come with you? Marion is available for domestic and international shopping.
  • Thinking about selling your horse and need help with an ad write up, pictures and video? Contact Marion.
  • Your horse needs a tune up or schooling for the next level? Training is available on a per ride basis, boarding can be arranged.
  • Considering joining us as  a permanent boarder here in  CCSH horsey heaven? We are not really a boarding barn but there will always be room for motivated riders who put the care of their horse on the top priority list.

Private haul-in lessons start at $60.00. Please contact CCSH for more pricing.
